Work
Fulshear provides a robust program of work opportunities that give young women critical workplace experience. With the guidance of staff, as well as workplace mentors, students learn profound experiential lessons from both their successes and their setbacks.
Once a young woman transitions to the apartments in Sugar Land, she has the option of pursuing paid employment in the community. Students are responsible for identifying and pursuing job prospects with the support of Fulshear staff. We encourage young women to pursue employment based on a balance of factors, including: related experience or education, availability, pay, relevance to passions and future plans, etc. Work options in Sugar Land are abundant and varied and may include jobs professional offices, at schools, in hotels or restaurants, and so on. This takes her learning of workplace skills to the next level. By earning a wage, keeping a bank account, and managing her own finances, she develops a critical appreciation for the connection between work life and personal life. By the time our students graduate from Fulshear, they have developed not only a vision and plan for their career, but the skills to pursue it.
